On behalf of the Tato.Net Initiative, I am happy to have invited you to Lvov for the III International Conference for Fathers. It was an exceptional meeting for men who want to become more professional at fathering.
The conference provided you with valuable knowledge as well as bringing you new and necessary experiences. We took care to invite the highest class delegates from various countries; you heard the testimonies of enthusiasts and animators who led interesting workshop activities – we prepared something special for each participant.
This event was planned for you, daddy. We know that you are very busy and that participating in the conference was a certain expense. The conference in Lvov was a proposal for a high quality program and, not to mention, a bit too good to pass by!
Good to have been in Lvov, Dariusz Cupiał Foundation Chairman
From the 24-26 of November in Lvov, the III International Conference for Fathers took place, organized by the Cyril and Methodius Foundation in cooperation with the St. Wlodzimierz Foundation in Lvov and the International Center for Fatherhood (MCO) in Kiev. The goal of the conference was to inspire the participants from Byelorussia, Ukraine and Poland to accept an attitude of involved fatherhood, and to give them role models and skills necessary in constantly better fulfilling their functions. Lectures, discussions, group work as well as the possibility to take part in one of three seminars helped: debut father, father in an adoptive family and spiritual aspects of fatherhood. Men who appeared at our conference include Dr. Ken Canfield (founder of the National Center for Fathering, Kansas City, USA, who for over 20 years has been researching the issues of the functioning of fathers in families), Prof. Kazimierz Korab (SGGW Warsaw), Senator Antoni Szymański (head of the Senate Commission for Family Matters, Poland), Aleksander Marchenko from Kiev (MCO Chairman), Pavlo Khobzey (Lvov District Guardian of Education), Igor Ivanom (from Byelorussia), Fr. Igor Pieciuch (Lvov Ukrainian University).
The aspect of fatherhood was considered on many levels. Dr. Ken Canfield stressed the possibility to effectively fulfill the role of father at all stages of life – from dad of an unborn child to the full experience of grandfather..
Senator Antoni Szymański, on the other hand, based on an analysis of Poland’s policies, pointer out that changes in legislation can influence the formation of the father’s role in family situations. As representative in the Senate of Poland, he awarded Dr. Ken Canfield and Aleksander Marchenko with medals for their May years’ work on behalf of strengthening families by supporting fathers.
The conference program proved that the organizers of the endeavors in a very creative way treated the topic of fatherhood – wrote Joanna Kluzik-Rostkowska, vice-minister of Labor and Social Policies of the Republic of Poland.
With satisfaction I incorporate Patronage on the above conference. At the same time I wish to show my most heartfelt expression of support for the efforts and work which you give for the good of relationships between fathers and children – stated Ewa Sowińska, Advocate for Children’s Rights, in a letter addressed to the Cyril and Methodius Foundation.
Andrej Sadowy – President of Lviv, Jurij Pawlenko – Minister of Families, Youth and Sports in Ukraine, Joanna Kulzik-Rostkowska – viceminister of Labor and Social Policies of the Republic of Poland, Ewa Sowińska – Advocate for Children’s Rights RP gave the conference their patronage. Radio Józef, Podlasie Catholic Radio, and Ukrainian Radio and the weekly “Siemja i Dom” were media patrons.
We have hope that the conference will bear fruit in concrete activities and contribute to the betterment of the relationships between fathers and their children. We also count on further cooperation with our partners and the building of new levels of understanding – summarized Dr. Dariusz Cupiał, founder of the Tato.Net Initiative. |
